DEEP RIVER PLANT TOUR

The Connecticut Water Pollution Abatement Association Education Coalition
Subcommittee recently sponsored a Plant tour / Technical presentation at the
Deep River Water Pollution Control Plant. This tour was hosted by Chief Plant
operator Peter Lewis, Senior operator Ken Hebert and plant operator Eric.
A total of 29 people took part. Paul Dombrowski, Senior Project Engineer of
Tighe and Bond took us on a technical presention through the Operation of
Sequencing Batch reactors to achieve Nutrient removal. Following the
technical presentation Peter Ken and Eric took all of us on a tour of their
facility. Lunch was provided by the staff and a question and answer period
followed. We had operators from Windsor Locks to Stamford attend along with a
couple of operators form Belchertown Mass who are just starting up a new
S.B.R facility. We also  Roy Fredrickson from D.E.P with us. This was our best
showing to date.
We will continue to host tours in the future, please contact
Art Enderle at 627-1490 if you are interested in sponsoring a future tour.
Thanks to the great staff at Deep river for a great and informative day.
